Temporary Registration

If you are ill while away from home you will need to contact your own GP practice in the first instance to get advice, they should offer you a telephone consultation and if they are in England, send a prescription electronically to a local pharmacy for you or you can call NHS 111. If they advise you need to be seen you can register as a temporary patient to receive GP services.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with that practice.

You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or local area where you are already registered.

We only accept temporary patients under the following conditions:- Due to sharing the building with another practice we accept requests for Temporary Registrations during the months of April, August and December or at any other time if you are staying with someone who is already one of our patients.

If you are not a British Citizen
